Mindy McGinnis

Saturday March 29 at 1:00 PM

Join Ohio Author Mindy McGinnis as she discusses her teen debut novel Not a Drop to Drink, the incredible story of a teen girl's struggle for survival in a future where fresh water is scarce and no one can be trusted. A book signing will follow this free program, open to teens and adults. Call the library at 330-343-6123 to register.

Not a Drop to Drink is a dystopian novel, distant, original cousin to The Hunger Games and features a very strong lead character named Lynn who will do anything to protect her valuable water source. Giant Monopoly

Tuesday March 18 at 3:00 PM

Like the board game Monopoly? Bet you’ve never played it like this before! Join us for a gigantic, fun twist on a classic game. Open to teens in grades 6-12. Light refreshments will be served. Call the library at 330-343-6123 to register.

How exactly does one play Giant Monopoly? Well, first of all, you super-size the board. Our game will take over the Community Room with giant spaces for all properties. Players will travel around the giant board the same way you would move tokens in the original game.

The dice are also super-sized. Two new dice have also been added to make the game more interesting. One is an "Action" die, which will tell players how they must travel to the next space. The other is a "Chance" die, which gives players a chance of winning or losing extra Monopoly money.

Each player will also start out with a few properties, due to the time restraints of the program.Door prizes will be awarded, and a special prize will be given to the winner - the one who has the most money and property value at the end of the program.

Pictures from the event will be posted on the Teen Facebook Page, so stay tuned to see how Giant Monopoly worked out!
