Banned Books Week

September 22 - 28

It's that time of year again! Time to celebrate your freedom to read and decide for yourself what makes a good book. Celebrate with us by coming to the library and completing our Banned Books Week activities and entering to win our Banned Books Week Raffle! We have banned books to give away, so don't miss your opportunity to win!

Banned Books Week is a national movement that raises awareness about issues of censorship, book challenges, bans, and your freedom to read. Celebrated in libraries and bookstores, this is the week to enjoy your freedom to read "dangerous" books.

When we say "Banned" we mean a book that has been Removed from a library (somewhere), for any number of reasons. "Challenged" on the other hand, means the book has been questioned, but not necessarily removed, in a library.

Banned Books Week is of special significance to teens because many of the challenged books are considered classic YA titles. Check out ALA's Banned Books Week page for more information.
