A Very Late Update & Lock-In Photos

Teens at this summer's last event, the Own the Night Lock In, had a blast! We played games, we ran around like lunatics (or you all did and I watched and hoped you wouldn't break the other lamp...) we did random crafts and watched Mirror Mirror! Our scavenger hunt winners were actually the last to get finished (but the only ones to answer all the questions correctly.) Three people slept. Most everybody got addicted to a new game on Facebook during quiet hours, and I hope some new friends were made. All in all, I'd say it was a great way to finish the summer!

Next up, a really ambitious Fall. We're having a Teen Tuesday event EVERY WEEK from September 11 to December 18! EVERY TUESDAY at 3:00 PM, you can join us at the library for great events. And, hey, guess what? YOU helped plan them!

You love games? Yeah, I think you do, since that's where I see most of you. And, we do have an XBox... So, we've got Game Days! September 25 and November 27.

Who doesn't like to make things? The brand new TEEN Craft Club will meet October 23 and November 20. October 23, we'll make Kool-aid Play Dough. (You can bring your favorite kind of Kool-Aid, the unsweetened little packages) November 20, we'll be learning how to knit. (Size 8 knitting needles and small skein of Caron Simply Soft yarn.)

Also, the YA Crew is back the second Tuesday of every month. We'll be planning our first "Haunted Library" event. This event will be run by teen volunteers and library staff and will be for children ages 8-12. Volunteer and community service opportunities await those who join the YA Crew. These opportunities are great experience for job and college applications.

Have you been counting? That takes care of most of the events this fall. But also coming up are these great events:

  • Talk Like A Pirate Party
  • We're the Banned (Banned Books Week Event)
  • Brain Freeze
  • Chopped
  • Gingerbread Challenge
For the full calendar, see the above link. For more information, please call the library at 330-343-6123 and ask for Liz. For even more awesome updates, like us on Facebook: www.facebook.com/doverpubliclibraryteens

EDIT: After-School Movies have been cancelled. Fear not! We will be having After-School Improv instead! October 30th and December 18th! Hang out with friends, enjoy
popcorn, and create unique, hilarious skits!
