Gingerbread Challenge

Tuesday December 3 at 3:00 PM
The Gingerbread is Back... Back Again

Create a Gingerbread Masterpiece at this delicious event. This time, with a peppermint twist! Decorate your house according to our secret theme! Call the library at 330-343-6123 to Register. Registration is limited to 12 this year. Participants are asked (encouraged, nay, BEGGED) to bring a bag of candy decorations to share.

We're still improving on this returning event. This year, the royal icing will return, and, per your request, I will still be making all that real gingerbread... Why? Because they're not real gingerbread houses without real gingerbread.

I am also sticking by my offer to have hot glue on hand for those stubborn houses... but you guys seem to think that being able to still eat the houses is important.

Light refreshments will be provided. Don't plan on eating your house... at least not at the library. We need pictures first.

DON'T FORGET YOUR CANDY TO DECORATE WITH!

Raffle runs November 11 - November 30, 2013

A Few Reminders to Our Participants:

1. All Cards MUST be SIGNED!
Not only is this a rule from the American Red Cross, but how am I supposed to know who to give this great book to if the card has no name on it?
2. Use Generic Salutations such as "Dear Hero" or "Dear Service Member"
3. Do not include personal contact information, just your name. (The part with your phone number on it will be cut off before the cards are sent)
4. I also ask that you be Kind to our Teen Zone Table and try to keep it tidy.

I want to thank everyone who participated last year and the year before. This program always makes me feel glad to be working with such a thoughtful and creative group of teens. I know our service men and women greatly appreciate your thoughts and well-wishes.

Catching Fire Party

Tuesday November 19 at 3:00 PM

Get ready for the second film in Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games series with trivia, crafts, prizes, and more!

At this great event, we will be playing Panem Jeopardy, making miniature bows and arrows, making origami mockingjay pins, and enjoying Hunger Games-inspired snacks.

This fun event is perfect for fans of the books as well as the movie. Open to teens in grades 6-12. Call the library at 330-343-6123 to register or for more information.

The first book of this bestselling series introduced readers to teenager Katniss Everdeen, who took her sister’s place as tribute in the Hugner games, a televised fight to the death made for the entertainment of the powerful Capitol. The second book follows Katniss as she is forced to go back into the arena to fight for her life again. The film adaptation comes out November 22 and is rated PG-13.
