Chopped

Tuesday November 6 @ 3:00 PM

Back and more delicious than ever! Join us for this competition that will challenge your culinary skills, quick thinking, and creativity! Judging will be based on taste, presentation, and creative use of the secret ingredients. Call 330-343-6123 to register.

Teens will work in teams to create 3 dishes using 3 secret ingredients. (No, I can't tell you what they are. First of all, I haven't picked them yet. Secondly, then they wouldn't be secret.) The dishes have to be an appetizer, a main dish, and a desert. While none of the ingredients will absolutely require cooking, a microwave will be provided. A "pantry" will also be available to provide teens with extra ingredients.

Event is inspired by the hit Food Network television show and is open to teens grades 7-12.

After School Improv!

Tuesday October 30 at 3:00 PM

Join us in the Community Room to learn how to think on your feet, create skits, and play fun games. This new event is open to teens in grades 7-12. Bring all your friends and have some laughs. Refreshments provided. Call 330-343-6123 to Register!

What is improv?
Improv (AKA Improvisational Theater, but, really, that's way too long to say) is a form of performance art (AKA acting) where actors have no script (or simply go off script) to create something new. Often, improvised lines are pretty realistic, and improvisation is a great skill for actors to have.

But, wait, is this an acting class?
Oh, yeah, me teaching you to act... yeah, no. No, we're not going there. We're taking improv to an extreme. The comedy club, Whose Line is it Anyway, kind of extreme. There are many games and activities designed to create an improv comedy show. It's these that we'll be focusing on. You don't have to know how to act. You just have to let go and have some fun. Say whatever comes to mind, and go with it.

And if all else fails...
We'll always have popcorn...

Haunted Library

Saturday October 27
6-8 PM
(5-9 PM for Volunteers)

Attention, Teen Volunteers! Our Haunted Library event is coming up! We need your help to create a haunted walk, run games, and supervise crafts for kids ages 8-12. If you haven't signed up yet to volunteer, contact Liz Strauss at 330-343-6123 for more information.

A rundown of events at the Haunted Library:
1. A Haunted Walk - through the upstairs of the library, spookily decorated and with mild frights.

2. A Party - in the Community Room with games, prizes, food, and crafts! (Games include a pin the hat on the cat, pumpkin toss, a monster hunt target game. Crafts/Sit-down activities include mazes, coloring pages, decorating masks, and Create a Monster.)

3. Costume Contest! - Please note you may dress up for the Haunted Library, but you do not have to. Same goes for the kids. But for those who do wish to participate, we will have ribbons for a costume contest and small prizes.

A special thanks goes out to the YA Crew for their ideas and support of this project. While we can't always make your suggestions a reality (sorry, no laser tag this time), your comments and help are always appreciated.
